Miss Vann, a Dillard University and University of  Houston graduate, is excited about her second year with the Austin High School Family. She has served ten years--six with Alvin ISD-- in education and has four and a half years of service in cheer.  With a firm and fair regimen that she attributes to her parents' military roots, she looks forward to capitalizing on the Team's strengths and working collectively to increase school spirit. "I'm thrilled to work alongside Ms. Smith with such an amazing group of young ladies. I have no doubt that this will be a wonderfully productive academic and athletic year! Go, Bulldogs!!"

Serving the Austin Family, as the Cheer Director, the past two years has richly enriched my life. I am so excited about seeing all of the amazing things in store for the new Director and Team next year. I am esctastic about supporting the phenonmenal Cheer Team, as a fan next school year. Continue to shine, ladies! Go, Bulldogs!

"Born and raised in Los Angeles California, I have fond memories of my childhood and high school years.  I have always been very active in school and I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t involved in some team sport or club/organization.  I was always a huge supporter of school activities and our student body.  Upon graduating high school I moved to Texas and began my college education at Prairie View A & M University whereI earned my B.A. in Communication Applications (Radio/TV).  I have been teachiing Communication Applications with FBISD for 12 years; the past three at Austin High.   I have several years experience as an academic coach as well as sponsoring various clubs/organizations; this will be my first time coaching JV cheer.   With that said, I understand the importance of teamwork and dedication within a group and I’m also an advocate of preparing students for the “real world”.  I believe there are several components of cheering can help students in their future endeavors after high school.  This year I'm looking forward to working alongside Ms. Vann and supporting the ladies of our AHS cheer program." --Ms. Smith
